RBA Accountants was founded in 2008 by Glen Butterworth and Dan Riggall, who left their respective roles at larger firms with a shared vision – to offer a more personalised, hands-on approach to accounting in the Northern Territory.
With years of experience behind them, the duo saw a clear opportunity to provide a higher level of service than what was typically available; one built on genuine relationships, not just numbers.
About us
To provide a personalised, hands-on approach to accounting for Northern Territory locals, empowering them to build stronger businesses and brighter futures.
To be the trusted and recognised local accounting firm of choice for construction, trade, agribusiness, and small to medium businesses across the Northern Territory.
We value long-standing client relationships built on trust, confidentiality, and loyalty. Many of our clients have been with us for years, a testament to our commitment and integrity.
As a boutique firm, we deliver the expertise of a larger practice with personalised service tailored to your needs. Our team is agile, responsive, and dedicated to helping your business succeed. You’ll always have direct access to a senior accountant and office manager for consistent, expert advice, and assistance.
While we specialise in family businesses, we also serve clients across various industries, including agribusiness, property development, construction, and professional practices. Whether you’re launching a new venture or seeking more attentive service, we’re here to help and would love to hear from you.
Dan Riggall
Dan didn’t initially plan to become an accountant, but a sharp-eyed university professor recognised his knack for numbers, prompting a change in direction that led him to his true calling. Since then, Dan has spent three decades helping clients navigate the complexities of tax and building profitable businesses with clarity, care, and practical advice.
After completing a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Wollongong, Dan started his accounting career with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) in Darwin in 1994. He went on to spend time with Horwath NT, including three years in Katherine, and joined PKF Darwin in 2004, where he became a partner in 2007. He’s worked across both audit, tax, and advisory, gaining a well-rounded perspective that now underpins his work at RBA Chartered Accountants.
His expertise spans small to medium businesses, tax planning, capital gains tax, GST, payroll tax, income tax, and business structuring. He particularly enjoys working with clients in civil construction, trades, and agribusinesses, a passion rooted in his own hands-on experience as a carpenter and growing up in the country.
Dan’s clients value his honesty, advocacy, and deep commitment to their success. He’s known for asking the right questions and digging deep to help business owners make informed, confident business decisions, often forming client relationships that span decades.
He believes business is personal, and work should make a difference. For Dan, success is about helping people, building a strong team culture, and enriching clients’ lives through smart advice and consistent support.
Outside the office, Dan enjoys fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors with his family.
